# Can syncX: Stock Sync update descriptions containing HTML tags?

Yes, syncX: Stock Sync can update product descriptions that contain HTML tags, but there are some limitations.

Stock Sync supports only **certain HTML tags** and does **not preserve pre-wrapped HTML exactly as-is**. For advanced styling or layout control, it is recommended to manage styling through **CSS in the Shopify theme**, which may require advanced CSS knowledge.

### Common Issue: Unwanted <br> tags added during sync

**Issue:**
Unwanted `<br>` tags are inserted into product descriptions when syncing from a source store to a destination store. This usually happens when line breaks in the source description are automatically converted into HTML line breaks during the sync process.

### How to fix this

1. Go to the **Stock Sync dashboard**.
2. Open the relevant feed.
3. Navigate to **Step 2 → Description → Smart Settings**.
4. Disable the option: **Convert newline (`\n`) to line break (`<br />`)**.
5. Run a test sync using an **SKU filter** before applying the change to all products.

### Important notes

* Stock Sync supports **limited HTML tags** only.
* Pre-formatted or pre-wrapped HTML may not be preserved exactly during sync.
* Shopify controls which HTML tags are accepted in product descriptions.

Refer to Shopify documentation for the list of supported HTML tags.
