# Why does my tag have characters like [ ] brackets?

To remove **[ ]** brackets or "  " quotes from the tags, you can use this `*["\[\]]*`  in the **smart setting** of the tag field's **Find and Replace section**.

**Enter the value** in the **Find field** and **leave** the **Replace field empty**.

To remove characters from an **existing tag in your store**, you need to enter the value in Find field and **enable the below option** in the Tag field's  smart setting.
