How to Set a Fixed Value in Matching Column

If your supplier feed file lacks a specific column for a required field, you can use the Fixed Value feature to assign a single, universal value to all products updated by that feed. This ensures required store fields are populated correctly even when incoming feed data is incomplete or missing.

How to Set Up a Fixed Value

Go to App → Feed Settings → Step 2: Matching Column

Locate Target Field: Find the store field you want to populate (e.g., Product Type, Vendor, or Quantity).
Select Fixed Value: Click the mapping dropdown for that field and select Fixed Value.
Input Value: Type the universal text or numeric value you wish to assign to all products.
Save Mapping: Click Update or save your feed settings to apply the configuration.

Fixed values will apply identically to every single product processed in that feed run.

1. Standard Fixed Value Selection

Use the built-in dropdown menu to assign a static string to a field. This is ideal for categorizing incoming supplier data under a single universal tag, vendor, or product type.

Example: If all items in a specific feed are perfumes, you can set the Product Type field to Fixed Value and enter Fragrance.

2. Advanced Method: Using Curly Brackets

You can bypass the dropdown menu entirely by using double curly brackets {{ }} to declare a fixed value directly inside the standard mapping field.

Syntax: Enter {{value}} directly into the text field.

Use Case: If you want to reset or set the inventory quantity of every item in a feed to exactly 1, simply type {{1}} in the quantity field mapping.

Universal Application: When a fixed value is applied, every product matched or created by this feed will receive that exact value for the mapped field, overriding any existing store data if the feed is set to update that field.
Data Type Matching: Ensure your fixed value matches the expected format of the field. For example, use numbers for Price or Quantity, and text strings for Description or Title.

Troubleshooting Steps

Issue: All my products were overwritten with the exact same Title or Price → Solution: Check your Step 2 mappings to ensure you didn't accidentally set a Fixed Value for unique fields like Title or Price instead of mapping the respective feed columns.
Issue: The advanced curly bracket syntax {{1}} is outputting the literal brackets as text in my store → Solution: Ensure you are using double curly brackets {{ }} with no spaces between the brackets and the value (e.g., use {{1}} instead of { { 1 } }).
