Theme Template Field

Assign custom layout designs or apply standard templates to your store products by mapping the Theme Template field in Stock Sync. This field allows you to dynamically set an alternate theme template for specific products or use fixed values to standardize product page layouts across your catalog.

How to Set Up Theme Template Field

Go to Stock Sync → Setup New Feed / Edit Feed → Step 2: Matching Column

Map Field: Click Add more field and select Theme Template from the target field dropdown.
Select Source: Choose the column from your feed file containing custom template names, or select Fixed Value if applying the same template to all products.
Save Changes: Click Save and proceed to run your feed.

If your feed file does not contain a theme template column and you want to apply a specific template to all products, select Fixed Value and enter the custom template name.

Theme Template Field Breakdown

1. Custom Alternate Templates

To assign an alternate product page template created in your store theme, provide the exact suffix name of the custom template file in your feed file.

Example: If your custom theme file is named product.pre-order.liquid or product.pre-order.json, enter pre-order in the feed cell.

2. Standard Default Template

To use your store's default product template, leave the cell value blank in your feed file.

Leaving the field value blank prevents alternate templates from being applied and defaults the product back to the standard layout.

Key Rules & Technical Details

Template Suffix Matching: Enter only the template suffix name (e.g., pre-order or custom-layout), not the full file extension.
Theme Support: Ensure the specified template suffix already exists in your published store theme before running the update, or the product may fallback to default rendering.

Troubleshooting Steps

Issue: Custom template layout is not applying to the product → Solution: Verify that the template suffix entered in the feed file matches the exact name of the active theme template file in your store admin.
Issue: Product remains assigned to an alternate template instead of default → Solution: Pass a blank or empty string in the mapped feed column during the feed update to restore the standard product template.
