Setting Up Two-Way Sync Between Google Sheets and Shopify
To achieve two-way syncing between Google Sheets and Shopify, you must set up two separate feeds in Stock Sync. Each feed handles one direction of the sync.
1. Google Sheets → Shopify (Update Feed)
Use an Update Feed when you want your Google Sheets data to update Shopify inventory. This feed pulls values from your sheet and applies them to your store.
Key points:
- Map the matching column (SKU, Barcode, Variant ID, etc.) so Stock Sync can identify the correct product.
- Ensure the sheet header row is correct and skip the appropriate number of rows.
- Trigger manually on the Free Plan, or schedule automation with a paid plan.
2. Shopify → Google Sheets (Export Feed)
Use a Write to Google Sheets Export Feed when you want Shopify inventory changes (including sales) to update your Google Sheet.
Key points:
- This feed exports Shopify product or inventory data directly into your Google Sheet.
- It must be created as a separate feed and pointed to the same Google Sheet if needed.
- You can disable "create new rows" if you want to avoid adding new products automatically.
Important Limitations
- The two feeds cannot run at the exact same time. They must be scheduled at different intervals to avoid data conflicts.
- Two-way syncing is therefore possible, but each direction runs independently.
How It Works Together
- When inventory is changed in Google Sheets, the Update Feed sends it to Shopify.
- When inventory changes in Shopify (such as after a sale), the Export Feed sends updated values back to the Google Sheet.
This setup provides two-way data flow between Google Sheets and Shopify as long as both feeds are configured and run separately.
