Can syncX: Stock Sync import or update product categories (Metafields) from another Shopify store?

Stock Sync DOES NOT support importing or updating the metafield for product categories from another Shopify store. Example is in the screenshot below:





This limitation exists because Shopify only allows categories based on its predefined Product Taxonomy list. Any attempt to import custom categories that fall outside this official taxonomy will not be accepted by Shopify.

Why isn't Metafield category import supported?

  • Shopify enforces a controlled category structure using a predefined taxonomy. Only categories from this list can be used or updated.
