  • A variant group is made to manage a group of products that are together under the same name and that will have several common attributes but some variation.

  • The above example contains clothes in different sizes and quantities. But products with the same Var ID can be assigned to the Variant Group and Variant Option as Size. So, it can be listed as a single product.

There is only available one setting in this field which is:

1. Auto sort

It will sort out the variant group before importing. When unable the toggle button will not sort out the variant group.

2. Merge variants into existing products

When the toggle is on, it will merge variants with existing products, and you need to select the same group for the merging process.

For example: There are three scenario how this options works, please understand it well.

Scenario 1

Scenario 2

Using the same SKU from feed and store to merge it but the product identifier as barcode

Scenario 3

Using the SKU and title from feed and store to merge it but the product identifier as SKU and since the same SKU already exists in the store, the merge could not be completed.

3. Merge variants will tagged with

When the new variants merge, you can add a tag to check which variants have merged.

It will prompt an error and check via the changes log.For example Variant Group supports multiple columns:From the above image, can see that two different columns want to group it. So, the Variant Group Field is mapped with VAR ID and VAR ID2.

Please have a look at the demo file attached below for more information on Variants.

Note: Variants can only be grouped correctly if all variants of a product share the same consistent value in the Variant Group field. If the grouping column (for example, description or item name) differs between variants, the system cannot merge them. In such cases, the feed must be standardized so all variants use an identical group identifier.

5. Remove Default Title (✔️ Export)

By enabling this option, the default title will be removed and set to blank.

For example: Some of your variants might not have the option name, which will cause the default title to be removed and turned blank.

Important Notes for Grouping Variants Correctly

To ensure variants group together into one product during the Add or Update process, make sure of the following:

• When Merge variants into existing products is enabled and using Title as the merge rule, the product titles in the feed must match the Shopify product title exactly. Any differences (such as measurements or attributes added to the title) will cause Stock Sync to treat them as separate products.

• If titles cannot match exactly, use a consistent identifier instead (SKU or barcode) as the merge rule, as long as those values already exist in Shopify and uniquely identify the base product.

• When grouping multiple variants, ensure all related rows in the feed share the same Variant Group value. If details like length or width are in the title, move them into Variant Option fields instead.
