What is Matching Column (Step 2) ?

The Matching Column step in Stock Sync connects the columns in a feed file (e.g., CSV, Excel, or Google Sheets) to the corresponding product fields in a store. This ensures that the right data from the file updates the correct product fields.


What are the store product field(s)?


  • These are the fields that are available in the store that can be added/updated/exported.



What are feed file columns?


  • The columns that are available in the feed file that is provided by the supplier or drop shipper. Match these columns to the store's product fields to update or add. It can be a column index or a column name.



Example: Matching in Action


In the screenshot below, a feed file from Google Sheets is matched to specific store fields using Stock Sync:

  • Product ID (from the feed) is matched to SKU (Product identifier)
  • StockQuantity
  • RRPPrice
  • Description_desc_1Description

This mapping ensures accurate updates to product information during sync.

  • Store Product Fields: Editable fields in the Shopify store (e.g., SKU, Quantity, Price, Description).
  • Feed File Columns: Data headers or column positions from a supplier file (e.g., “Stock”, “RRP”).

Matching is done by selecting the relevant column from the feed to align with each store field.
