How can I archive a product when its quantity is zero?
To archive a product when its quantity reaches zero, ensure that your update feed sets the product’s quantity to 0 (using a quantity rule if needed). Then enable the auto-archive option in the update feed or use an Auto Clear Discontinued/Remove Feed setup.
Auto-archiving based on quantity occurs only when all variants have zero quantity across all locations and “Continue selling when out of stock” is disabled. If continued selling is enabled, zero quantity does not satisfy the auto-archive condition.
Auto Clear Discontinued/Remove Feed can also archive products that are no longer found in the linked Update Feed. This comparison is based on product presence in the supplier feed, not on metafield values. Conditional archiving based on variant or product metafields—such as Incoming Quantity or Due Date—is not supported. The metafields used for those values are also separate from a product identifier; an identifier is the field used to match feed items to Shopify products, such as SKU, barcode, or a metafield value.
If a product is missing from the feed, use a linked Remove Feed to archive it. Open the Update Feed, select Setup here under Auto Clear Discontinued, choose Archive products in Advanced Settings, and disable Partial Match if archiving should occur only when all variants are missing. Use Store Product Filters, such as tags or vendor, to limit which products are checked.
If the product does not archive, check whether it is excluded by filters such as tags or vendor filters. Only products included in the feed’s filter criteria will be processed and archived.
