How to Resolve Common Errors in Shopify Feeds
This guide summarizes common issues that can occur when running Shopify feeds in Stock Sync and how to resolve them.
SKU Mismatch
If a product is not updating:
- Check whether the SKU in the feed matches the SKU in Shopify.
- SKUs must match exactly, including leading zeros.
- If they differ, update either the feed or the Shopify product.
Incorrect or Overly Strict Filters
If no products are imported or updated:
- Review filter settings such as vendor or tag filters.
- Removing or adjusting an incorrect filter often resolves the issue.
Feed Shows No Match Found
If mapping shows an entire first row or fails to detect columns:
- The delimiter of the file may be incorrect.
- Try switching between comma or auto-detection.
- If the feed is supplier-owned and cannot be changed, ensure the mapping still correctly identifies SKU and quantity columns.
Authentication Errors (FTP/URL Not Found)
If you receive a “feed not found” or login error:
- Verify username and password with the supplier.
- Even if the same credentials work in another store, confirm they are valid for this connection.
Halt Due to Zero-Stock Warning
If the feed stops and many products appear set to zero:
- The halt protection may have paused the update.
- Check the "Halt if more than X% products are set to zero" slider.
- Increasing the threshold allows updates to continue.
Inventory Policy Not Updating
If preorder items disappear from the store:
- Map the Inventory Policy field in the feed.
- Set values such as PREORDER, INCOMING, INQUIRY to Continue.
- Set all other statuses to Deny.
XML or API Feed Not Applying Quantity Updates
If Shopify stock does not match the feed:
- Run a preview sync and check the change log.
- Confirm if the expected values appear.
- If not, share example SKUs to identify incorrect mappings.
Feed Not Loading or Stopped Running
If a feed suddenly stops:
- Check automation settings to confirm the schedule is active.
- Review recent error messages in the feed history.
Excluding Products From Updates
To prevent certain products from being updated:
- Add a tag such as
manual_priceormanual_price_editto the products. - Exclude this tag in your update feed filters.
This guide helps resolve common sync issues quickly. If errors persist, reviewing the feed preview and change logs usually reveals the cause.
