How to resolve SKU matching failures in Stock Sync

1. Restrictive Filters

Items are frequently skipped or marked as "Unmatched" because they do not meet the criteria of your feed filters.

• Formatting differences such as prefixes, postfixes, or number formatting changes introduced by spreadsheet software.

• Leading zero mismatches (for example, feed shows 11152851686 but Shopify shows 011152851686). Both identifiers must match exactly, including leading zeros, otherwise Stock Sync will skip the product.

• Using SKU as the Unique Product Identifier prevents the app from overwriting the SKU. If SKUs need correction, temporarily switch the identifier to another unique field such as barcode or title, map the correct SKU column, run the update, then switch back.

Removing restrictive filters and ensuring exact identifier matches usually resolves most SKU matching issues.

  • Data Discrepancies: Spreadsheet software often automatically alters data formatting. Check for unintended prefixes, postfixes, or changes to number formatting (e.g., losing leading zeros like 0123 becoming 123).
  • Missing SKUs in Feed: If a supplier removes or renames a SKU in their source file, Stock Sync cannot sync it. Always verify that the SKU actually exists in the latest feed file and appears correctly under the mapped ProductID column.

3. SKU as the Unique Product Identifier

  • The Limitation: Using the SKU as your Unique Product Identifier prevents the app from overwriting or correcting that same SKU.
  • The Workaround: If your SKUs require correction, temporarily switch the identifier in Stock Sync to another unique field (such as Barcode or Title). Map the correct SKU column, run the update to apply the changes, and then switch your identifier back to SKU.

4. Location Assignment Issues

  • The Problem: A product will not update if the SKU is not assigned to the specific Shopify location selected in your feed settings.
  • The Solution: Enable the Quantity Smart Setting: "Auto add stock to location if not there". This allows Stock Sync to automatically activate and assign the product to that location during the sync.

Quick Fix: Removing highly restrictive filters, enabling location smart settings, and ensuring exact identifier matches between your file and Shopify will resolve most SKU matching errors.
