How to Troubleshoot Common Product Feed Syncing Issues
When your product feed is not syncing as expected, several common issues may be the cause. Below are the most frequent problems and how to resolve them based on real scenarios.
1. No Matches Found
If your feed runs but shows zero matches:
- Check whether the first row of your file contains headers. If headers start on a later row, adjust Skip Row in Feed > Edit Settings > Step 1.
- Ensure no filters are unintentionally blocking items.
- Confirm that SKUs or product identifiers in the file match those in your store.
2. Incorrect File Path (FTP)
When using FTP, the file path must be exact. If the system reports the file missing but you can download it manually:
- Verify the folder name and file path.
- Update the path in the feed settings if needed.
3. Filters Preventing Sync
Filters can unintentionally block products.
- Review any enabled filters and disable them temporarily to test.
4. Slow Sync or Stuck Sync
If your sync is unusually slow or stuck at a low percentage:
- Check if AI Description or other AI-generated SEO settings are enabled. These features can significantly slow processing because each product requires an API call.
- Disable AI Description fields if you need faster updates.
- If the feed freezes at a fixed percentage (for example, 14%) and shows 0 updates, there may be a temporary system delay or processing queue backlog. These delays usually resolve automatically once the queue clears. Try running the feed again after a short wait.
5. Header or Formatting Issues
Formatting issues in your source file can prevent matching or updates.
- Ensure the header row is correct.
- Confirm column separators match the file format.
6. Unauthorized or Invalid API Credentials
If your feed uses an API and fails to sync:
- Verify username, password, token, or key with the supplier.
- Tokens may expire; refresh if necessary.
7. Folder or File Structure Issues in Supplier Sources
Some suppliers provide files inside subfolders or ZIP archives.
- Stock Sync cannot extract ZIP files directly. Download and extract the data first, then upload or host the resulting CSV.
8. Store Filters Blocking Matches
Sometimes store-level filters prevent matching results.
- Disable store filters, run the feed, then re-enable if needed.
9. Matching Column Issues
Incorrect matching column mapping may prevent updates.
- Ensure you're matching using the correct identifier (SKU, Handle, etc.).
10. Pagination Issues in API Feeds
If your API feed returns only part of the catalog (for example, only the first page of results):
- Check whether the supplier API requires pagination parameters such as page or limit.
- Make sure pagination is enabled and configured correctly in the feed settings.
- If unsure, ask the supplier for API documentation or contact support.
11. Errors from Supplier Image Servers
If product creation fails with messages like "Internal Server Error" during image download:
- The supplier’s image host may be temporarily down.
- These issues usually resolve once the supplier server becomes stable.
- Re‑run the feed after confirming that the image URLs load correctly in a browser.
12. Automation Frequency Limitations
If updates are running but not as frequently as expected:
- The minimum automated sync frequency is once every hour.
- For more frequent updates, manual sync can be run at any time.
These steps resolve the majority of syncing issues. If problems persist, gather sample SKUs and share them with support for deeper investigation.
