Products are uploaded without image and seeing processing error

The error shown in the image above indicates a problem with the image URL after it is inserted into Shopify.

Reason

  • Restricted Access: The URLs require a login, are CDN-restricted links, or are standard Google Drive links (which are not publicly accessible via Shopify).
  • Security Blocks: Platforms like Cloudflare or other security systems may mistake Shopify’s automated download requests for bot traffic and block them. In many cases, attempting to upload the same image URL directly in the Shopify admin will show the error “Media processing failed,” confirming that Shopify cannot retrieve the image due to security filtering.
  • Server Overload: The supplier’s server might be temporarily overloaded or return errors, especially when syncing a large volume of SKUs or images at once.

Solution

  • Use a CDN/Proxy URL: You can route your images through a CDN or proxy URL to bypass Shopify’s download restrictions and ensure they load correctly.
  • Adjust Security Settings: If you host the images behind Cloudflare, whitelist Shopify’s user-agent/IP addresses or temporarily disable the protection for your image URLs.
  • Note: Whitelisting Stock Sync’s server IP alone is not sufficient. Shopify must be able to access the image URLs directly. If Shopify’s servers are blocked, the images will not upload.
  • Verify URL Accessibility: Ensure all image links are publicly accessible and can be viewed in an incognito window without requiring a login.
