Troubleshooting SKUs Not Updating

When an SKU is not updating in Stock Sync, it is usually due to missing product identifiers, filters that prevent updates, duplicate SKU conflicts, or mismatched stock locations. Below are the most common reasons and steps to resolve them.

0. SKU Formatting Issues (e.g., Hidden Prefixes)

If SKUs in your feed include hidden characters (such as an apostrophe prefix'), Stock Sync will not recognize them as matching your store SKUs.

  • Remove the unexpected prefix or hidden character using Smart Settings.
  • Ensure the cleaned value matches the store SKU exactly.

1. Missing, Blank, or Not Found in Feed SKU

If a product has no SKU in your store, Stock Sync cannot match it and therefore won’t update it.

Similarly, if the SKU exists in your store but does not appear anywhere in the supplier feed, Stock Sync has no source data to update from and the SKU will show as unmatched or simply remain unchanged.

  • Confirm the correct feed file or filename is selected in the feed settings, as mismatched filenames can cause SKUs to appear missing.
  • If the SKU is intentionally absent from the feed, consider enabling the Out of Stock Strategy to automatically set unmatched variants to 0.
  • Add the missing SKU directly in your store if blank.
  • Ensure the SKU exists in the supplier feed and matches exactly.
  • Re-run the sync to confirm it updates correctly.

2. Duplicate SKUs Causing Conflicts

If the same SKU appears multiple times in your feed or store, Stock Sync only uses the first match unless duplicate handling is enabled.

  • Enable Update duplicate products with the same product identifier under:

Matching Column (Step 2) > Product Identifier > Update duplicate products with same product identifier.

  • If duplicate SKUs exist in your feed with different quantities, review and clean up the feed to avoid conflicts.
  • Update the Location under Quantity > Smart Settings > Location if different sources report different stock.

3. Vendor or Store Filters Blocking Updates

If store filters are applied, only products matching the filter criteria will update.

  • Check your store filters in the feed.
  • Remove or adjust filters if the SKU’s vendor or product data does not match the filter.

4. Wrong Stock Location Mapped

If the feed quantity is for a different stock location than the one mapped, the SKU may show as not updating.

  • Go to Matching Column (Step 2) > Quantity > Smart Settings > Location.
  • Select the correct location corresponding to your feed.

5. SKU Included in Feed but Marked as Unmatched

A SKU may appear in the Unmatch log even if it exists in the feed.

  • Verify that the SKU in the feed matches exactly (no spaces, typos, or formatting issues).
  • Ensure duplicate SKU settings are enabled when necessary.

6. Feed File Not Parsed Correctly

If row separators or formatting issues prevent Stock Sync from reading the file properly, SKU updates may fail.

  • Contact support if the file uses a non‑standard row separator, as this can require backend adjustment.

7. SKU Exists in Store but Is Missing or Filtered Out of the Feed

A SKU that is present in your store but missing from the feed file will not update. Stock Sync only updates SKUs that appear in the supplier feed.

  • Ensure the SKU is included in the feed and matches exactly.
  • Check for hidden characters in column headers (such as BOM ) which may prevent the SKU column from being detected.
  • If tags, vendor filters, or other store filters are applied, confirm the SKU meets the filter conditions.

8. Attribute Mismatches (e.g., Color Codes vs. Color Names)

If your store uses full names (e.g., “Granate”) but the feed provides codes (e.g., “GRNT”), variants may not match and therefore will not update.

  • Ensure option names (color, size, etc.) match between store and feed.
  • Map or convert supplier values to the exact values used in your store.

If you continue to see SKUs not updating after checking the above, review the change logs for additional clues or contact support with sample SKUs for investigation.
