What fields should I map for inventory quantity in Stock Sync?

To update inventory in Stock Sync, you only need two essential field mappings:

• Product Identifier – Map this to SKU (or another unique identifier that matches your Shopify products). The identifier must match exactly, including leading zeros, without extra spaces or characters. For example, 11152851686 does not match 011152851686.

• Quantity – Map this to the exact supplier-feed column that contains the stock level. Field names must match the source column precisely; for example, map Total: rather than a similarly named Totals field if Total: contains the actual quantity. For a normal supplier stock update, use the overwrite method so the feed value replaces the current quantity. Do not map the same source column more than once: Stock Sync adds values when multiple quantity columns are mapped, which can cause inventory to double or increase on every sync. If the feed uses values such as in stock or out of stock, apply Quantity Rules in Smart Settings: choose Equal, enter the text value, and specify the quantity to assign (for example, in stock → 5).

Other fields such as Title, Price, Images, or Description do not need to be mapped for inventory updates and can be left unmapped to avoid overwriting product data. In particular, do not map Inventory Tracked when you need to change the stock number; map Quantity instead. Price and Cost are separate fields, so leaving Price and Compare-at-price unmapped protects existing selling prices.

Map inventory policy from a feed column

To change whether variants can be sold when out of stock, add the Inventory Policy field mapping and select the feed column containing the condition (for example, a due date column). Configure Enable Continue selling when out of stock with * (wildcard), which matches any non-empty value and sets the policy to Continue. Configure Disable Continue selling when out of stock with an empty indicator, such as <blank> or a blank value, which matches empty rows and sets the policy to Deny.

Note: To update stock levels, make sure you map the "Quantity" field, not "Inventory Tracked". Mapping "Inventory Tracked" will not update inventory quantities.

Set up and verify the feed

1. Create an Update Existing Products feed. An Add Product feed imports products but does not update inventory for products already in the store. You can also use an existing Add Feed’s three-dot menu and select Copy as Update Feed; this creates an update feed with the relevant SKU and Quantity mappings.
2. Select a source that supports scheduling if you need automatic updates; Upload File does not support automatic sync.
3. Select Step 3: Filter if you need to exclude feed rows. To include only products with current available stock, add an Incoming Feed Filter using the same feed column mapped to Quantity (for example, qty or the exact quantity column header), with the condition greater than 0. Do not enter the word qty unless that is the actual header in your file. If the feed uses a status such as vco:Code = expecting_delivery, filter that status separately or use a Quantity Rule to set those products to 0; a positive expected-delivery quantity does not necessarily mean stock is currently available.
4. Select the intended inventory location. Each feed can update only one location.
5. If the feed can contain blank quantities, add a Smart Setting such as If Empty → 0. If products missing from the feed should be set to zero, enable the relevant out-of-stock option.
6. Use Test Run or Preview Sync, then review the change log and Recent Activity Logs. A Preview Sync does not apply changes; run the full process to update the store.
7. Enable the schedule and confirm that the feed is enabled. If more than 80% of items have quantity zero, Stock Sync pauses the update as a safety check to prevent an incorrect or incomplete feed from setting most products to zero. Review the source file and quantity mapping, then go to Account > Profile > Quantity Zero Alert to adjust the threshold if the zero quantities are expected. For example, the threshold can be set to 100% when the feed is intentionally reporting zero inventory for all products.
