What types of data can a Shopify metafield support?

A Shopify metafield can only support a single data type as defined in its metafield definition. Each metafield must be configured with one specific type such as integer, single-line text, URL, boolean, list of values, or other supported Shopify metafield types. If your incoming data varies between formats—such as sometimes being an integer and other times a text value—you must create separate metafields for each data type or separate update flows, since one metafield cannot accept mixed data types.
