Why does my store show zero inventory for certain products even though my supplier has stock?
If your store shows zero inventory for products that should have stock, the most common cause is a mismatch in Product Identifier settings. When Stock Sync is configured to match products using a specific identifier (such as Barcode/GTIN), but the supplier file does not contain values for that field, Stock Sync cannot match the items. As a result, the inventory update cannot be applied, and Shopify will continue to show quantity 0.
To fix this, check which product identifier your feed is using. If the supplier feed does not include Barcodes/GTINs, switch the identifier to one that exists in the file (such as SKU), or request that the supplier adds the missing identifier to their feed. This will allow Stock Sync to properly match products and update inventory in Shopify.
Additionally, if the supplier’s website still shows a product as available for purchase even though their actual inventory is 0, they may have enabled the “continue selling when out of stock” inventory policy. This can make items appear purchasable despite having no stock. In such cases, Stock Sync will correctly reflect quantity 0 based on the true inventory value from the supplier.
