Why only the first variant image was updated?

Problem

The parent SKU metafield PJ647700 has 8 variants sharing the same product identifier and the "Black/Black" colour option.

When Update duplicate products with same product identifier is disabled, the import process updates only the first matching variant it finds. As a result, only the first variant receives the image update while the remaining variants are skipped.

Solution

See below for how to update all variant images:

Step 1: Enable Duplicate Product Updates

Navigate to Product Identifier Smart Settings and enable:

✅ Update duplicate products with same product identifier

This allows the importer to update all variants that share the same product identifier instead of stopping at the first match.

Step 2: Re-import Images for Existing Variants

Since the image was already imported and attached to the first variant, the importer may skip importing it again during subsequent runs.

Navigate to Image Smart Settings and select:

✅ Skip existing images, import new images
