Why Are Out-of-Stock Products Changing to Draft Status?

If your products are unexpectedly switching to Draft status when they reach 0 stock, it is usually caused by the Status field mapping in your feed settings.

When the Status field is mapped, the values inside your feed file override your Stock Sync preferences (including the Auto-Publish settings). If the feed specifies a draft indicator for out-of-stock items, Stock Sync will update the product status accordingly.

How to Fix This Issue

Depending on your goals, choose one of the two solutions below:

If you want Stock Sync to manage product visibility automatically based on stock levels, you should stop mapping the status field.

  1. Go to your Feed Setup and navigate to Mapping (Step 3).
  2. Find the Status field and remove/unmap it.
  3. Navigate to Advanced Settings (Step 4) to configure your default auto-publish or stock behavior.

Solution 2: Use a Fixed Status Value

If your feed file lacks a dedicated status column, but you want to enforce a uniform status across all processed products:

  1. In the Status field mapping, select the Fixed Value option.
  2. Choose your preferred default state:
  • Active: Makes the products live in your store immediately.
  • Draft / Archived / Unlisted: Disables the products on your storefront.
